I have now been to LEVEL a couple of times and you know I have been promoting the Venue for months now…The place is truly beautiful and well done overall.  The one issue is that they hired several people for the Roy G Biv bars and maybe they shouldhave left them there.  The service at Level leaves a lot to be desired.  Holy Fuck I am even a VIP with the staff knowing who I am, I cant imagine how they treat people from out of town.  I am hoping they get the issues ironed out because if not I don’t give them 6 months,  so far they have not lived up to the promises I had heard or the claims or even the competition.  ( Get your Shit Together) and yes I have told the owners that I know as well so I am not just talking smack.

Blogger VIP and taking it to the next LEVEL

Tonight was the VIP and Press Party ( Invitation only ) event at Level Dining Lounge.  There was a small but very exclusive mix of people.  I ran into my friends David ( The Uber-Lawyer) and Roopan Dey of C Magazine.  I drank a few well crafted cocktails from the upstairs VIP area and noticed as I looked around that the entire wait staff is very good looking.  I am very impressed and I truly think it takes gay nightlife to a whole new LEVEL in the Short North.  If I want to put it simply..nothing remotely compares.  I posed for a few pictures and mingled about and had a small conversation with the OHIOGROWN media mogul Chris Hayes (still very, very cute) and his new Barney ( a term of endearment for a hot man) Paul.  I am trying to integrate myself more into the gay community, who knows I am opinionated enough that I might just shake things up a bit.  Its not like I don’t know all the right people, or that I cant get into anywhere in the city, but I don’t really kiss ass…so that is a negative with some people.  I may not agree with everything people do, but at the end of the day I support the gay community in Columbus and all I want is for it to get stronger and stronger.  There is not a Morsel for the entry today just my words and thoughts….savor them and enjoy every last drop.  XOXO GayPerspectiveCmh

Last night was Gallery Hop and once again I made it through.   I have to admit it was endlessly long night filled with invaders from Suburbia and beyond.  I know some of you might be a bit disappointed that I have not been updating the blog as much lately.  I just fell out of love with it I suppose.  I do twitter sometimes as well, its a good way for me to post a thought or two and not have to come up with a whole entry.  As I type this though it is kind of nice to be back and rambling with my internal thoughts.  I am excited that LEVEL DINING LOUNGE  is opening soon, I am of course on the VIP list…what would you expect for a local celebrity blogger?  LOL.  I have had a few people mention they think I am some kind of hater of the Roy G Biv establishments and I want to set somethign straight.  I do not hate any of the owners or employees, it is jsut my opinion that in many ways they have abandon a portion of the gay community and went after the hetero community more for their own monetary gain.  The new U is truly only proudly gay during Pride Month, the other 11 months of the year there are not any pride flags or anything like that and for quite a while they had even removed all the gay publications.  Plus a monopoly is never a good thing and now this FindFred bullshit where I read in an article that they started it because of the tool that owns Manhunt contributed to republicans and no on 8 in California.  I know that is bullshit and you know that is bullshit so why isn’t honesty just a policy?  I have much more respect if it was simply stated “we think we can get very rich off of this and then further redevelop the Short North for our own personal gain”, and in effect invite the hetero invaders and Cameron Mitchell and Black Olive “hipster” followers.  You can disagree with me if you want, I truly dont give a fuck at all but if you havent noticed the changes to the gay community and the Short North you must either be retarded or blind…  For all you fuckers that disagree with me I can recommend a few books if you wish on how the gay parts of major cities around the country have lost their identity because of things that happening  just like they are in the Short North.  I advise any of you to go to Boystown in Chicago which has been more resistant to these changes and the gays there have actually stepped up for each other not just themselves.

Welcome back to my Gay Perspective, and my silly little blog about my life and then what I think is truly a Morsel.  I have been away for a few days.  If I am being honest Ihave just not felt like writing a blog lately.  Its weird on how for so long you look forward to coming home and writing and sharing my thoughts and then you just feel like you have given all you can give.  Well I am back and feeling fine so I hope you all have not abandon me.

In Columbus this week it is “Bike To Work Week”, I fully understand that it is a green initiative but truly how does this make a difference?  If you have ever travelled in any of the Asian parts of the world with the large number of bikers it takes FUCKING FOREVER to get anywhere..so you sit idling in a car far longer putting more pollutants in the air.  Honestly Mayor Coleman might benefit from this initiative since he wont have to ride with his drunk wife…God I loved that Video where she was pulled over HIGHLY intoxicated, they played it over and over on all the Columbus stations.   Living in Columbus where we have a large per capita number of officers per residents it is weird to see all the propoganda spewed out by the mayors office in regard to all the “Services” that will be have to be cut…maybe we dont need a chauffer for the mayor?  or Bodygaurd, or a “Liason” that is paid in excess of 80,000 a year?   This post I know will be unpopular so for that I more than likely will not post any comments.  I have been a life long Democrat and proudly supported Mr. Obama in his quest for President but in Columbus we need new blood in the Mayors office, and the City Council.  The actions of these people makes me think maybe I should be looking for a glimmer of hope within the Republican Party.   Since I am on a political rant today this is for Southwestern City Schools.  QUIT PUTTING THESE LOSER TAX LEVYS ON THE BALLOT EVERY ELECTION AND MAYBE PEOPLE WOULD APPROVE ONE.  I honestly believe if all these parents want to bitch, whine and complain and cry all over the news then why don’t they dig into their pockets for THEIR kids, they had them, it is their responsibility to pay for their own childrens education it is not mine or others people who do not have children.  SO shut the fuck up!   Also please note their are multiple private schools so quit expecting other people to pay your share and dig in your musty old wallet and pay the tuition!

Ohhhh yeah I did promise all of you sone info didnt I?  Well the new space at 700 High Street (Old RJ Snappers location) is a new Gay restaurant/bar/lounge and the name is going to be “LEVEL” . I know the owners but out of respect for their privacy I wont name names just yet.  There is a lot of rumor out there and it seems to have the Roy G Biv crowd sweating a little bit.   The sound system is state of the art, nice financial backing and support, great location and a menu that is to seriously challenge U bar+food.   The rumor is that Preven and Brent have been hired for “LEVEL” as managers and to market the new venue in the community and that multiple servers currently at Roy G Biv locations are jumping ship to the new hot gay spot.  I truly believe that competition can only be good for the gayborhood and the Columbus gay community.  These things are my opinion but I think a monopoly truly only serves the people behind it, not the people obliged to it.  Maybe its time all of us decided to take back the gayboorhood/Short Northfrom the Cameron Mitchell fakers and the gay hater like the UBER-bitch Cindy at G & CO Couture.  She did a duplicitious contract with the previous owner and basically stole the business from him (allegedly).  The other rumor is that she is a major hater of gays and the whole gay community in general.  I have some friends that overheard her on the phone at the store talking about how much she “hates all the fags”.    So Roy G Biv and “Level”  I wish you both good luck and a clean competition and maybe more gay businesses will flush out the Hetero-Invaders that think since they are eating at a Cameron Mitchell knock-off restaurant they are all so damn hip….lets reclaim the Short North and leave them Grandview!  XOXO GayPerspectiveCmh

Sunday Brunch with a Hot Brazilian Morsel NSFW

I went to brunch today with a group of friends, we attempted to go to Barnums of Westerville, but even though they never took it off their website they were closed.  The second choice was Tasi in the Short North which is owned by Kent and Tasi Rigsby whom I know, but the crowd there was insane so we had to settle for U bar+food.   The food was OK, nothing great or complicated, they seated our party which was 7 and the other large party back to back so a server couldn’t even walk between the aisle.   That was the least of the problems today and I tend to sorta like this place, its OK food and questionable service mostly but it serves a general purpose in the gay community…when they aren’t catering to the straights.  Today our service was bad, no other explanation at all just plain bad.  The drink orders were all wrong, the checks were wrong and for the price was paid I sort of expect something as simple as plates…over 50% of the time we were there they had no clean plates available.  The fact that Rasjesh and Wilbur (2 of the owners) were seated so close and oblivious to how badly they treat the customers.  If the rumor is true of what is going on at the old RJ Snappers building I will be very pleased, its about time for some competition.  I am sure it will be good for the gay community and then maybe U will step up their game…now if someone would start a legitimate nightclub perhaps AXIS would get a modernization or at least a good cleaning, and some mics that work for the shows, good thing your always moving dancing while your there the floor is so dirty and sticky if you stopped for very long you might get stuck.

The Gallery Hop was very successful this month, I suppose that The Arnold Classic being in town, The UFC Championship at Nationwide Arena, and the Home Show at The EXPO center all helped to add up to the large muscle filled crowd.  If you read my previous blog entry you can tell I was inspired by the “scenery” walking around the Short North.

It was easy sleeping in this AM with the hour jump in time, I think its called Daylight Savings time or something.  I went to Easton with Kyle and my friend Red.  The one store we cant skip is CO Bigelow where I picked up a few things as usual.  We decided to lunch at Bar Louie, the food was adequate, our server did look like she danced with J-LO on Living Color.  It was weird getting served by a Fly Girl.

Kyle and I had a very busy morning/afternoon we cleaned out the Garage of alot of sound equipment and took it to our Friend Marks store to sell.  This was a long and dirty job to say the least.  Kyle several years ago used to own a Concert Sound and Lighting Company called Pinnacle Productions., and this was some personal equipment that we have had since he sold the company.  I honestly don’t think that most people need 10,000 Watts of sound with a professional DJ mix and PA system….do you?   So once we had that delivered to Mark, we headed to the Short North to eat lunch at U bar+food.  I do think its weird that every time we are there in the afternoon the one guy is always at the end of the bar with his laptop entertaining a small child with a half eaten pizza…I understand if people have Children but really at a gay bar in the mid afternoon?  I honestly just think its bizarre, then there was the usual mix of various members of the gay community and even Miss Maria Garrison who I do adore.  I will have more juicy postings later I am sure,  just thought I would throw in a bit of my exciting daily life. Have a good afternoon everyone. I picked Blake Nolan as “The Hot Tasty Morsel Of The Day”.  I have been in a hot sexy bear daddy sort of mood lately and Blake certainly fills that bill.  I think Blake is the kind of hot man that just makes you want to do very bad things often…YUMMMMM.  I am sure you are all aware Blake is a body builder and a well known “Adult Educational Performer” aka porn.  I highly recommend anything that he is in…preferably me if I am being honest LOL.

Was it Hot today?

I want to mention that today in central Ohio it never got above freezing and in fact flurried most of the day.  At my own little oasis of Retail Hell I was busy from the moment we opened till closing time with hotties.  I will admit most were of the younger demographic and not the hot sexy daddy type that have been my recent infatuation.  The Short North is a pretty diverse area but I am not sure if one straight  guy ever came in….lots of hot little twinkie types……..not a bad gig if you can get it….maybe Saturday it will be better.  Laters…XOXO GayPerspectiveCmh

Hi Everybody, I am not all Doom and Gloom like the headline might suggest, I just thought it was an accurate description of my day today.  It was slow……slow might even be a major understatement.  The Short North might as well have been closed today.  The icey rain this morning kinda slowed everything down and the day just never really picked up from there.  The one bright spot of my idea was a fun conversation I had with my dear friend Dominique (Yes, that Dominique from Americas Next Top Model and the Tyra Show and the new Spokesmodel for Carols Daughter http://carolsdaughter.com ) On Top Model they made her look kinda busted sometimes but once you see her your almost speechless she is truly beautiful.  She is going with Fabulous Anna, Kyle and myself to the next Nina West Extravaganza in March, I bet that will be fun with those 2 incredible women.  I am sure I will have some pictures to post from the event.

Kyle and I have began the process or at least the exploration process of starting a new business in a area that neither of us is familiar.  Kyle is a successful CFO of a multi-million dollar International company and I have had a career in banking and now retail management along with assisting my parents with multiple business they owned and some they still currently do. 

We have initiated demographic information on the surrounding area, met with our financial planner, even contacted a real estate agent friend to begin looking for a perfect location.  We have been debating on location as to stay within a gay defined area or perhaps locate in one of the emerging areas or who knows we might be brave enough to create our own emerging area.  When you start this it is exciting but very trying on your nerves.  I know I have been quite vague as to the type of business but all of you will know when the time is right.  Plus I have a web designer we use at my location in the Short North and I am sure he is up to the challenge for our business and website.

Dysfunctional ?

As a member and supporter of the community here in Columbus there is a duty you have to be involved and make a difference. Well I am a bit bewildered by the whole Network Columbus organization. I love Outlook and read it faithfully and I even try hard to support other businesses owned or managed by members of the community, but I am beginning to doubt myself. I again agree with the premise of the organization much like I agree with HRC and Stonewall Columbus, but is there a real agenda? a real agenda of change? or even a policy of acceptance? As I looked around the room it was so easy to see the personal agendas of the Realtors and Insurance Agents, but not the organization. There is not a sense of community or acceptance or even inclusion. The crowd is in the same clicks as it was the last several meetings I have observed…is this really making a difference or improving gay rights or understanding?

The entire Gay Movement needs an overhaul, a jumpstart, some balls if you will. I have talked to several of my friends and we all had the same opinion on Network Columbus, HRC and Stonewall here in Columbus. Hell even the businesses that make the most money from the gay community in Columbus cant even muster the effort to put a simple float in a gay pride parade, but a bar from Dayton and one from Cincinnati can? I feel like a roman citizen at one of the fights when you call for fresh blood……and in Columbus it is definately time for that.
