Hi everybody, you all know i have not been posting an entry very often anymore. I thought I was getting a cold starting Friday and then on Saturday felt a bit worse and now today I feel horrible. I just took my temperature and its 101.5 so a little fever. Kyle has been great taking care of me today but Monday I am on my own.
Kyle and I ventured out to sunny Las Vegas for a few days of gambling, debauchery and exhaustion. We take an annual trip the first weekend of October every year. We always have a great time while we are there, its sort of an adventure to just explore all the city has to offer. I went to JET at the Mirage Friday Night, and then Saturday I hit the hottest gay club in Las Vegas KRAVE at Plant Hollywood Resort and Hotel. Sunday night I was feeling a bit Posh so I got a table at TRYST at the Wynn.
The other topic I want to cover is really annoying to me. We usually FedEx our luggage to the destination so I suppose we avoid this problem. My topic is that people insist on taking giant bags on the airplane. Most of these old fossils have these huge bags because they are too lazy to go to baggage claim. I am hoping Southwest will actually enforce some sort of size limit because it pisses me off when it takes 40 minutes to leave the plane because to old bastards cant get their bags out of the overhead compartments or they have to smash the others peoples luggage to make room…its sad…I hate it when old people insist on travelling…maybe ARP should start their own airlines.
Tonight was the VIP and Press Party ( Invitation only ) event at Level Dining Lounge. There was a small but very exclusive mix of people. I ran into my friends David ( The Uber-Lawyer) and Roopan Dey of C Magazine. I drank a few well crafted cocktails from the upstairs VIP area and noticed as I looked around that the entire wait staff is very good looking. I am very impressed and I truly think it takes gay nightlife to a whole new LEVEL in the Short North. If I want to put it simply..nothing remotely compares. I posed for a few pictures and mingled about and had a small conversation with the OHIOGROWN media mogul Chris Hayes (still very, very cute) and his new Barney ( a term of endearment for a hot man) Paul. I am trying to integrate myself more into the gay community, who knows I am opinionated enough that I might just shake things up a bit. Its not like I don’t know all the right people, or that I cant get into anywhere in the city, but I don’t really kiss ass…so that is a negative with some people. I may not agree with everything people do, but at the end of the day I support the gay community in Columbus and all I want is for it to get stronger and stronger. Hello everyone hope that your staying warm in this cold, dreary Ohio weather. I did a little shopping today at Easton, didn’t really walk around a whole lot due to the wind and rain. The funny thing is that I was just at Easton the night before as well, ate dinner at Cheesecake Factory. I go back to work Tuesday and that is cool I enjoyed my couple days off but am ready to get back into the swing of things. I went to brunch today with a group of friends, we attempted to go to Barnums of Westerville, but even though they never took it off their website they were closed. The second choice was Tasi in the Short North which is owned by Kent and Tasi Rigsby whom I know, but the crowd there was insane so we had to settle for U bar+food. The food was OK, nothing great or complicated, they seated our party which was 7 and the other large party back to back so a server couldn’t even walk between the aisle. That was the least of the problems today and I tend to sorta like this place, its OK food and questionable service mostly but it serves a general purpose in the gay community…when they aren’t catering to the straights. Today our service was bad, no other explanation at all just plain bad. The drink orders were all wrong, the checks were wrong and for the price was paid I sort of expect something as simple as plates…over 50% of the time we were there they had no clean plates available. The fact that Rasjesh and Wilbur (2 of the owners) were seated so close and oblivious to how badly they treat the customers. If the rumor is true of what is going on at the old RJ Snappers building I will be very pleased, its about time for some competition. I am sure it will be good for the gay community and then maybe U will step up their game…now if someone would start a legitimate nightclub perhaps AXIS would get a modernization or at least a good cleaning, and some mics that work for the shows, good thing your always moving dancing while your there the floor is so dirty and sticky if you stopped for very long you might get stuck.

Kyle and I had a very busy morning/afternoon we cleaned out the Garage of alot of sound equipment and took it to our Friend Marks store to sell. This was a long and dirty job to say the least. Kyle several years ago used to own a Concert Sound and Lighting Company called Pinnacle Productions., and this was some personal equipment that we have had since he sold the company. I honestly don’t think that most people need 10,000 Watts of sound with a professional DJ mix and PA system….do you? So once we had that delivered to Mark, we headed to the Short North to eat lunch at U bar+food. I do think its weird that every time we are there in the afternoon the one guy is always at the end of the bar with his laptop entertaining a small child with a half eaten pizza…I understand if people have Children but really at a gay bar in the mid afternoon? I honestly just think its bizarre, then there was the usual mix of various members of the gay community and even Miss Maria Garrison who I do adore. Today it was bitter, windy and cold here in Central Ohio. Kyle, Red and myself ventured to Easton to get a few necessary items from CO Bigelow, Puma and Z Gallerie. Today was fun I drove to Chillicothe and ate at Olive Garden with my parents..had not eaten at a Olive Garden in years. I tried to convince them that gay adoption was of course a viable option with Maiden, I wanted to put her in the Toyota and make a city girl out of her. The rest of my evening watching the Golden Globes I looked at the gowns, the jewlery and was kinda surprised by a few of the winners. Mickey Rourke? Seriously? WTF was that shit? Kyle and I have our plans finalized and we will be attending the big car show in Detroit. I am excited we have been to Chicago for the big show but Detroit is the one that you really want to see. Smokey Bones is some serious shit
OK, I just had to tell you about this experience Kyle and I just had. We had not been to Smokey Bones since it was first built at Easton and it was really bad, but we thought it had been a long time and the menu online looked much improved so we thought it was worth a chance…were we fucking wrong. We walked into the Grove City Smokey Bones and there was a older couple that were standing in front of the “hostess” podium and she already looked confused because even though we heard the older couple tell her “2″ when she asked how many, she said “4?”. The lady again said “2″ and after a minute or two of penciling on her seating sheet she finds them a table. The bizarre part of this is that there were only 10 tables with people at them in the whole place and not one person at the bar….so seating is not rocket science but when the restaurant is empty I am pretty sure even a mentally challenged inbred is capable. The “hostess” came back to the podium and before she even could speak to us a “waitress” said to her “dont you seat me for at least 15 minutes“. The hostess then ask us how many we tell her 2, she looks at her penciled sheet and says ” well she is the next to be seated so you will have to wait a few minutes“. The weird part is that while she is saying this to us we can see 3 waitresses talking, laughing and two of them were trying on each others shoes (what the fuck is this shit?). We decided to leave as the hostess then decided she “might be able to figure something out“…if they cant figure out seating do you think they are capable of preparing food? We decided to go to another restaurant along Stringtown Road and what do you know we got seated right away.

Hi there everyone, this will be my last entry until at least Christmas night or the next day. I will be travelling to southern Ohio (Gallipolis) to visit my family which is always an adventure. I do know they all mean well and want the best for me in their own way, it just hard sometimes when your family to this day still doesn’t fully accept me for the whole gay thing. They all have known for quite some time, I told them years ago and you would think they would come around. Truly there are times I want to say “Fuck you if you cant accept me“ I just find it hard to do, I love them all and I guess I am scared of what could happen. OK enough of that bullshit let me tell you about my day today.

I worked today to help out since it is the holidays, plus my shopping now is pretty much complete. I am not looking forward to Tuesday and all those last minute people that think its an emergency for me when they didn’t properly plan enough shopping time and procrastinated to the last possible minute. I ate Dinner this evening at Outback with Kyle and our friend Red, it was tasty…had not been there in quite a while. Our conversation was quite the popular eavesdropping destination for the tables around us…I guess most straight people must lead pretty boring lives? I thought about what to post today to my 10’s of loyal readers and the simple thought is what to get me for Christmas. I am truly difficult to buy for, usually if I want something I get it myself or Kyle will grab it for me. So I am sure you can all use these few handy suggestions for the perfect gift for me at least.

1.) Vodka…not just any brand I prefer top shelf not the stuff you can get at Krogers while your shopping for a frozen Pizza. I will suggest Ultimat, Vox, Grey Goose just to name a few. I do love, love, love me some good vodka.
2.) A gift certificate to one of my favorite stores. I enjoy Nordstroms, Target, Universal Gear, Saks, Prada and Puma. I dont make it a habit to ask for a gift card but truly most people have horrid taste, and I prefer things a little more refined than most.
3.) Black Eyeliner (SABLE) from MAC. When I go out I admit it I like my eyes to POP! Dont try to pass off any of that Covergirl or Max Factor shit I am not buying cosmetics at the local Wal-Mart.
4.) A hot beefy boy packing some serious HEAT…..well I just figured if I was asking I should get what I want, what I really, really want.
5.) Underwear from a favorite I mentioned earlier http://www.aussiebum.com, I also like 2xist, Joe Snyder, Cocksox and John Galiano. I always have fabulous underwear on… well not always on the good times…sorry that made me laugh.
6.) Some artwork that makes your think. I love the Short North here in town to explore there are so many galleries and shops to find fun things. There are a couple of artist locally that are fascinating Brian Reume and Robert Trautman, check them out if you get a chance.
7.) ok for the last item on my list how about LOVE? Love yourself and love each other. I think that gift always seems to be the most illusive.
